Hang Hau Man Kuk Lane Park

Hang Hau Man Kuk Lane Park is located in Tseung Kwan O. With an area of about 1.9 hectares, the park provides a Chinese-style garden with waterfall and pavilions, covered plaza and other amenities. Situated at a convenient location adjacent to Hang Hau MTR station, the park is well used by residents nearby as they commute daily through town.

Hang Hau Man Kuk Lane Park is located in Tseung Kwan O. With an area of about 1.9 hectares, the park provides a Chinese-style garden with waterfall and pavilions, covered plaza and other amenities. Situated at a convenient location adjacent to Hang Hau MTR station, the park is well used by residents nearby as they commute daily through town.
The park adopts a Chinese style with modern interpretations. A moon gate is the popular feature element in a traditional Chinese garden for framing views. Carefully placed rocks and extensive lotus ponds are also included to reflect the Chinese heritage. In response to the present-day townscape of Tseung Kwan O, some modern touches are incorporated into the design, such as the white wall with simplified grey border.
The pond is the focus of the Chinese garden surrounded by colourful plantings. The edge of the pond is intentionally aligned to meander around the border to soften the wateredge and to offer vantage points of different views.
The pond can be appreciated from different angles along the zigzag concrete boardwalk. The plantings enclosing the area visually extend towards the direction of Fat Tau Chau at the back.
Waterfall features accompanied by carefully placed angular rockery provides a glimpse of contemporary design.

The Hill-top Pavilion is raised to reveal an extensive view of the park. The pavilion is enclosed with timber lattices with slim struts, creating a relaxing environment for rest and contemplation.
The moon window in the pavilion frames views of the landscape.
A combination of different tree species under a clear blue sky, including <i>Terminalia mantaly</i> ‘Tricolor’ and <i>Araucaria columnaris</i>, contribute to the landscape with a variation of colours and texture.
The park is available for all users with barrier free access available throughout the park.

Entrance gateway of Man Kuk Lane Park features an angular rooftop comprising interlocking steel members, which is one of the examples of Chinese-style architecture with a modern interpretation.
