West Kowloon Station Green Plaza

Located next to the West Kowloon Cultural District, there are 3 hectares of public space outside the West Kowloon Station including the Green Plaza and Sky Corridor.

Green Plaza has an expansive open area with spreads of lawns while Sky Corridor is a densely vegetated sculpture garden on the arching rooftop of the station, providing public space and a viewing deck with spectacular vista over Victoria Harbour.

Rows of trees were planted along the curve of the station and the edge of the lawn, softening the edges of the bold architecture.
Travelers in the station can enjoy the view of the park and greenery out the window adorned by <i>Terminalia mantaly</i>. The tiered tree canopy allows sunlight to penetrate through the tree foliage into the building.
At the roof of the station, <i>Pennisetum advena</i> 'Rubrum' along the stairs sweeps to the wind.

The drooping soft and fluffy flower plumes bordered the steps towards to the top of the walkway.
The arching stems and golden flower plumes adds colour and texture to the architecture.
The open area brings a breath of fresh air to the visitors amongst the high-rise residential and commercial buildings.
The weeping grasses softens the edges of the pathway and add character to the location.
The Sightseeing Deck faces Victoria Harbour offering a panoramic view of the skyline of Hong Kong Island.

The open area is thoughtfully designed to connect to the existing pedestrian network of the urban context. The walkways link the public space to residential and commercial complexes, as well as the adjacent West Kowloon Cultural District.
Vertical greening with climbing plants embellishes the hard solid wall with nature, creates a healing and peaceful environment which reduces stress and boosts sense of well-being.
The wooden benches which cohere with the wavy design language of the building provide rest and view for the visitors.

Nature provides shelter and food for birds and birds help to maintain the biodiversity in return by pollinating flowers and spreading seed.
The open space is a harmonious combination of greenery and architecture. The outstanding shape of architecture, a welcome respite with lush plantings and its uninterrupted view towards the harbour make it a favourite place of both tourists and locals.
The expansive open space encourages different activities including jogging. The barrier free design also makes the space available to a wider range of users.
The landscape light effects during night-time give a soothing and chill vibe, making the location ideal for an after-dark hang out.
