Victoria Park

With an area of over 19 hectares, Victoria Park is the largest park on Hong Kong Island. It is located at the centre of Hong Kong Island North, between Tin Hau and Causeway Bay. Located next to Causeway Bay’s busy shopping area, the extensive Victoria Park provides a green respite from the bustling crowds. It also provides sporting and recreational facilities including football and basketball courts, a major tennis centre, swimming centre and lawn bowling facilities.

Being one of the largest and most popular parks in Hong Kong, Victoria Park is the venue of many events and public meetings, such as Lunar New Year Fair, the Hong Kong Flower Show, the Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo.
This Fig tree (<em>Ficus altissima</em>), another OVT (Old and Valuable Tree) in Victoria Park, was planted by Tung Chee-Wa, the first Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR in 1998.
A model speed boat creates cuts through the calm waters of the Model Boat Pool. The pool is popular with many model boat enthusiasts and spectators.

Kapok Trees (<em>Ceiba pentandra</em>) in the Victoria Park, adjacent to Causeway Road, are well-known for its size and distinctive red flowers. One of these tall trees (LCSD WCH/29) is 33.5m in height, being the tallest old and valuable tree in Hong Kong.
Rows of <em>Delonix regia</em> (Flame of the Forest) are planted at the Victoria Park entrance (near Causeway Bay) as landmark trees. In early Summer, visitors are treated to a spectacular scarlet floral display.
Victoria Park is well designed with ample seating for the community to use. An important piece of street furniture, the park bench promotes social interaction and enhances a sense of community.
The large (over 2-hectares) Central Lawn is a large open space ideal for picnic, sports and relaxation.
The seats are carefully positioned to create a designated area for people to sit, relax and recharge. Park benches allow people to pause and enjoy the pleasing aesthetics of the park landscape.
