Penfold Park

Stretching across an area of about 8 hectares, Penfold Park is located with the centre of the Sha Tin Racecourse.

The Park is also home to a variety of Olympic exhibits, including the Hong Kong Olympic cauldron, in commemoration of the Beijing 2008 Olympics Games where the Park served as the training venue for the Equestrian Events.

The Park was initially named as the Infield Park when the Park first opened in May 1979, and was renamed to Penfold Park in late 1979 to commemorate the retirement of the Club’s then general manager, General Bernard Penfold.
Feature displays of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games are displayed at the Park including the Olympic Mega Rings, enhancing its unique identity as a former Olympic Games venue.
The Park has a mix of extensive lawns with lush vegetation and three man-made lakes, which used to be a habitat for waterfowl including ducks, geese and swans.
Built and managed by The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Penfold Park has been offering visitors a series of attractions and leisure facilities on non-racedays since 1979.
Penfold Park is also one of the most pet-friendly parks in Hong Kong, popular amongst pet owners and animal lovers.
The Park also contributes to the extensive landscape outlook from the Grandstand of the racecourse.
Penfold Park is one of the major habitats of wild migratory waterbirds in Hong Kong. Egrets can easily be spotted around the park.
The lakes linearly meander through the park, introducing the sound and textures of the rippling water into the different areas of the park.
Chinese style architectural elements such as arches are used to add visual interest and characteristics.
Penfold Park offers great view and spatial relief to the nearby residents along Shing Mun River.
