Occupying an area of over 4 hectares, Kwun Tong Promenade provides a 1000-metre long seaside boardwalk, a landmark tower, musical fountains and a variety of other facilities.
Designed to bring nature into the city, an abundance of plants and grassland are provided. Glass balustrades were used to improve visual access to the sea and provide an unobstructed panorama of Victoria Harbour. For the cultural context, loading and unloading of paper was a daily scene of the former Kwun Tong Public Cargo Working Area. Features representing paper recycling industry have been blended into the design of facilities to differentiate the promenade from other waterfronts in the town.
