Tin Ping Road is a road in Sheung Shui, winding through an area of residential blocks, institutional and recreational facilities. The most striking visual element of the area is the avenue of Ficus virens stretching along Tin Ping Road. The trees are planted on a raised planter bed with some areas of groundcover plantings, screening the adjacent buildings from the vehicular road.
Ficus virens, commonly known as big leaved fig, is a large deciduous tree with upright branches and extensive foliage, allowing themselves to withstand from strong wind. The tree produces milky sap and grows distinctive buttress roots to stabilise themselves from toppling. Young leaves tend to be reddish in colour, whereas purple ripen fruits are succulent and edible.
