Aldrich Bay Park

Aldrich Bay Park is situated in Sai Wan Ho with a site area of approximately 22,000 m2. It is adjacent to the existing Aldrich Bay Promenade and provides the local residents a park with the theme of ‘Fishing Village’. The 1:1 fishing vessel, feature pools, bamboo pavilions and other public amenities make the park a popular location for relaxation and leisure.

The 1:1 fishing vessel, feature pools, bamboo pavilions and other public amenities make the park a popular location for relaxation and leisure.
A traditional fishing vessel anchored quietly at the feature pond of the park and has been a prominent focus of attention and excitement.
Looking out from the park, the feature pool is visually linked up with Aldrich Bay, whereas the sampan (flat-bottom wooden boat) provides an interesting contrast with the ferry behind, creating a juxtaposition of traditional and contemporary waterway transportation.
In reminiscence of traditional fishing village, fisherman huts were built using steel, glass, timber and natural bamboo. The fisherman huts are elevated above the water surface, allowing water to flow freely under the dock. These docks offer opportunities for visitors to go closer to the wateredge.
The wide, open Aldrich Bay Park serves as a wind corridor in the region that brings sea breezes to the inland areas, enhancing urban ventilation and creating a more comfortable environment for the neighbourhood.
Wavy benches provide cosy seats with a perfect vista towards the waterscape of the park. It introduces a simple twist to conventional park furniture, offering seating for visitors to lay back in a more relaxed position and enjoy the view.
A jogging track of about 450m stretches along the north-east boundary of the park, available for leisure stroll or exercise, promoting an active and healthy lifestyle for the community.
Water features effectively screen off traffic noise from the Eastern Island Corridor and provide the park with soothing sound of cascading water, making the stay in the park more pleasant and enjoyable.
The blossoming plants produce attractive flowers and delicate aromas which are a great attraction in the landscape.
Surrounded by residential buildings and schools, Aldrich Bay Park provides the nearby residents and children with abundant open space to relax and play.
Covered areas and open lawns accommodate the needs of different activities, turning the park into a go-to spot for all kinds of leisure activities.
Pavilions make use of natural bamboo to create interlocking and well-ventilated spaces with different levels of privacy.
Hard paved areas are also provided for low-impact exercise such as Tai chi. These exercises can help to improve mental well-being by reducing stress, anxiety and depression.
The ample space in the park allows children to run around and play with other kids of the same age, offering precious opportunities to interact with the nature.

A tree-lined stone footpath on the edge of the park acts as a green corridor which defines and encloses the park area. It also provides a rejuvenating and tranquil walking environment.
