菲島福木為沿岸植物,生於沿岸疏林。 捲葉蛾科的飛蛾Heleanna fukugi Nasu, 1999 之幼蟲以菲島福木的葉為食物。琉球狐蝠Pteropus dasymallus (Temminck, 1825) 亦會食用其果實。 |
應用 |
菲島福木具深而廣的直根系,抗風耐鹽,在琉球群島及中國均用作防風林樹種,以抵擋颱風及怒潮侵襲。 菲島福木在琉球群島有近三百年的栽培歷史,當地人因應風水概念種植成林帶及樹叢。本種的葉厚革質,不易燃燒,故用作防火林。此外,其樹皮為黃色染料,可染布帛,如沖繩的紅型。 近年有科學研究發現菲島福木具有抗癌、消炎及殺菌等的藥理功能。 本種樹冠呈圓錐形,葉片終年翠綠,外型美觀,近年在香港廣泛栽種成綠化及行道樹。 |
名字由來 |
本種的日文名「Fukugi」有「快樂之樹」的意思,祈求人與自然和諧相處,福木為「Fukugi」之中文意譯;因本種亦產於菲律賓,而得名「菲島福木」。 |

十字對生,厚革質至近肉質。卵形、卵狀長圓形至橢圓形。先端鈍、圓形或微凹,基部寬楔形至近圓形,邊緣內捲。葉面深綠色,具光澤;葉底黃綠色,中脈隆起。葉柄粗壯,基部有鞘狀凸起。 |

雌雄同株,單性花。簇生或單生於無葉葉腋。花瓣黃綠色至綠白色,倒卵形。花萼及花瓣均5枚。 雄花常多朵簇生,無柄或具短柄,雄蕊多數,合生成5束。 雌花常具長梗,子房球狀,花柱極短,柱頭盾形,3至5深裂。 |
果 |
漿果近球狀,成熟時橙黃色,外面光滑,乾時強烈皺縮。含種子1至4枚。 |
